Our Pledge of Preservation

A public pledge to stand apart from traditional real estate developers.

For 30 years: Plant two trees for every one removed. “LaTerra” means

“The Land” or “The Earth” — a name chosen with purpose

Our Green Development Promise

At LaTerra, we believe thoughtful development should enhance the environment, not harm it. That’s why we commit to planting two trees for every one we remove, ensuring a net positive impact on local ecosystems. Our projects prioritize adding new trees and shrubs, protecting streams, and managing water responsibly. Even in limited-space urban areas, we actively support urban forestry programs to create greener, healthier communities.

The Land Stewardship

  • LaTerra commits to planting two trees for every one removed.
  • Our projects include planting many new trees and shrubs.
  • We focus on stream preservation and water management in projects.
  • Contributing to urban forestry programs in limited space areas.

Barrington Manor – A Community Rooted in Green Values

At Barrington Manor, our commitment to sustainability is visible in every detail—from the ground up. Over 400 trees have been planted throughout the neighborhood, with minimal tree removal during development. Where possible, existing trees were carefully transplanted on-site to preserve the natural landscape. Each home is surrounded by thoughtfully designed, comprehensive landscaping, contributing to a flourishing, tree-lined community that reflects our dedication to green living.

Meadow Point – Thoughtful Growth, Rooted in Respect

Meadow Point showcases how careful planning and environmental respect can go hand in hand. While 85 trees were removed during development, we planted 219 new trees and 100 shrubs—totaling 370 new plants across the community. A significant oak tree was preserved at the neighborhood entrance, serving as a natural landmark and symbol of our commitment to preservation. All 38 homes feature enhanced landscaping packages, creating a lush, welcoming environment for residents.

Light of Life Redevelopment – Urban Stewardship in Action

The Light of Life redevelopment reflects our dedication to sustainable growth, even in dense urban settings. Across two Pittsburgh sites with limited space for trees, we planted on-site wherever conditions allowed, making the most of every opportunity to green the surroundings. To further support the city’s canopy goals, we contributed $80,000 to the City Forestry Program—an investment in long-term urban health and environmental equity.

Cardinal Ridge – Commitment to Clean Water

At Cardinal Ridge, protecting our waterways is central to the development approach. Special attention was given to preserving stream corridors and implementing advanced stormwater management systems to reduce runoff and erosion. With infrastructure designed to prevent neighborhood flooding, the project plays a key role in safeguarding the health of the Three Rivers and their tributaries for generations to come.

LaTerra’s Tree Impact – Leaving the Land Better Than We Found It

At LaTerra, our guiding principle is simple: “Our goal is to leave the land better than we found it.” This philosophy drives every decision we make—from planting more trees than we remove during construction to protecting natural stream corridors and implementing sustainable stormwater systems. Through thoughtful design and small acts of environmental stewardship, we strive to create communities that not only thrive today but leave a lasting legacy for tomorrow.
