Our Story
LaTerra Builders was founded by a merger of timeless traditions and enhanced innovations. 30 years ago, Craig Schweiger founded A. Allen Adams Contracting on a simple concept: “if you treat the master craftsmen and mechanics that work with you fairly you will gain loyalty from the most skilled and fair-priced subcontractors and in turn, construct the absolute best and highest quality project at a competitive price.”
Three decades of successful projects later, A. Allen Adams Contracting has transformed into LaTerra Builders, spearheaded by its new owner, Vincenzo Matarazzo. Vinny joined Craig to conduct business in large part by using those same principles, but in other ways to redefine how building is done in the post-pandemic era. Costs of material and labor have skyrocketed; LaTerra will control those costs by self-performing much of the construction and development business.
It started in Ohio Township, then Pittsburgh’s western suburbs, and then homes were created in Sewickley, the Town of McCandless, Marshall, Bradford Woods, Fox Chapel, Cranberry Township and Franklin Park. Now, LaTerra Builders projects and transformations can be found in Pittsburgh’s Northside, Mt. Washington, and not just around Pittsburgh’s western and northern suburbs but in New York, Ohio, and as far as Georgia.
Through the years, LaTerra Builders has built with unmatched attention to detail, with quality standing as its primary focus.
The success of LaTerra Builders contracting during these turbulent years in the construction market lies in the fact that all of its clients, suppliers, and subcontractors are honored and respected. LaTerra Builders considers it a privilege to perform all projects — especially ones that add to the rich heritage of Pittsburgh and its foundation that was built on pure work ethic.
